Three Simple Tips For A Great Start To The School Year! (And A Free Back-To-School Bundle)

I’m always so surprised by how quickly the summer goes. Somehow, we’re already gearing up for the fall over here! As a new school year approaches, here’s a small list of ideas to help your family transition back into your school routine!

  1. Establish Routines Early: Set consistent bedtimes and wake-up times well before school starts. My three kids are all elementary aged, so this works well for our family. The kids get ready for bed around 7:45pm. At 8:00pm, they begin what we call “Wind Down Hour”. It lasts from 8:00pm-9:00pm. They have to be in their beds, but can choose to read, write, draw or do quiet activities. You can also create morning routines that can be further implemented once the school year starts. Over the years, my husband and I have learned that predictability and routines are some of the most helpful ways to reduce stress for our family.

  2. Celebrate the first day! Make the first day special by taking photos, preparing a favorite breakfast, or starting a tradition of a special after-school treat. Growing up, my mom always brought us to our local bakery after school for a cream-filled long john. Our First Day of School Questionnaire and grade-specific pennants (included in the free Back-to-School Bundle) are great ways to begin the day!

  3. Prioritize connection: In the busyness of a new school year, don't forget to prioritize family time. Whether your kids are off to school or home learning with you, intentionality goes a long way! Our Lunchbox Cards (also in the bundle) are an easy way to send a little love and encouragement in your child's lunch.

To help you implement these tips, I've created a Back-to-School Bundle which you can download here. It includes the First Day Questionnaire, Lunchbox Cards, a Printable Prayer, Grade-Specific Pennants, School Day Checklists and more! You can get this bundle for free when you subscribe to our newsletter.

Do you have any tips that help the beginning of your school year run smoothly? I’d love to hear!
